What’s a typical day like for you?

I wear a bunch of different hats on a typical day. With an 8-year-old and an 11-month-old, life is busy!

When I’m not “momming”, I’ve got my head in personal development books (growing + stretching myself) and educating others about essential oils.

What role does fashion play in your life?

To be honest, I wouldn’t consider myself to be a trendsetter, but I do like wearing clothing that fits my body type and personality.

I like patterned, textured styles (and I can dress up well when I need to), but I’m also a pretty committed yoga pants and jeans girl!

What do you love about shopping at Fresh Collective?

I had such a fun experience shopping at Fresh Collective recently!

What inspired you to start your doTERRA essential oils business?

When I realized how many people could benefit from the physical, emotional and mental healing/support that these oils provide, I knew that this would be a company that I would enjoy building a business with.

Festival Maxi Dress in Golden Rod Print by Toronto label Mandala; Necklace by Toronto jewellery label Torched Studio

What’s a typical day like for you?

I start most days with an hour of power to align myself – some meditation, yoga, journalling – most important part of my day – connecting me to myself.

insta banner

I drink at least one giant mug of really good black tea, have some sort of kale smoothie and then head to the Bloor West Wellness Clinic to start my day working with amazing clients. I love what I do!

What in your life is really important to you?

Connection with people I care about is so important – especially my husband and my cutie pie dog. My soul needs to be in nature as often as possible and I really need to be helping people in some way in the work that I do.

Tank top by Toronto designer Yasmine Louis; MES 2205 Layered Crop Pant by Montreal label Melow; Purse by Markham label Pixie Mood

What would you like to be remembered for?

Helping people connect to who they are at their core and how they want to express that in the world. My philosophy is that life is short and that we only have so much time to show up as our true selves and to do what we really love in the world – whether that’s a career or in other ways.

What role does fashion play in your life?

I love fashion – always have. I like feeling that the outside matches the inside of who I am. My previous careers were as a Phys.Ed teacher and then Pilates instructor so it’s so fun now to be able to dress up a little bit in my work as a coach!

High Rise Skinny Jeans – 30″ Inseam in Raisin (also available in other colours!) by Montreal label Yoga Jeans; Greta Work Tote in Black by Markham label Pixie Mood; Laser cut Cherry Wood necklace by Squamish, BC label Birch Street Studio

What do you love about shopping at Fresh Collective?

Fresh Collective is one of those stores, I could spend hours in! So many choices and really cool pieces. The staff is great – they really want you to feel good in what you’re wearing. I love every piece I’ve gotten so far!

Festival Maxi Dress in Golden Rod Print by Toronto label Mandala; Necklace by Toronto jewellery label Torched Studio

Like so many of the women we’ve featured on our blog, you left your career as a teacher in order to pursue a career as a Life Purpose Coach. What motivated you to make that transition?

I guess it really comes back to the philosophy I mentioned above. I felt like life was too short to be doing something that I didn’t totally love. There were elements of course that I enjoyed, like working with my health classes on life skills.

banner 3- border

I’ve pulled what I loved in the teaching world into the work I do now and added a spiritual component. It doesn’t feel like work – just feels like what I’m meant to do!

Tibouronia Tunic in Teal (also available in Black and Marsala!) by Toronto designer Jennifer Fukushima; Handcrafted necklace by Toronto label burfurtART

What do you have that you want to promote?

If anyone reading this is feeling a bit lost or looking for direction – career or personally, then I’d invite you to book a Life Purpose Breakthrough Session with me. It’s complimentary and is a chance for us to spend some time together to see where you are, what you’re looking for and if I can support you. And then we can go from there!

Anie Flard Skirt in Periwinkle (also available in Black and Teal!) by Quebec label MOOVment Design; Handcrafted necklace by Toronto jewellery designer burfurtART

What does a typical Life Purpose Coaching session look like? What are your general objectives when working with clients?

Every coaching session is unique to each individual and I tend to coach in the moment to whatever is present for the client. We generally have a path for our work together so we are always working towards the outcomes the client wants to achieve.

banner1-border

In a session, it could be powerful questions to help with clarity or tools and activities to get people into action. Sometimes it’s releasing what is no longer serving the client (fear, doubt, insecurities) and that can be done through conversation, meditative processes or energy work. It’s an amazing, collaborative process!

Tank top by Toronto designer Yasmine Louis; MES 2205 Layered Crop Pant by Montreal label Melow; Purse by Markham label Pixie Mood

What are some of the most common challenges clients come to you with?

Most people come in looking for clarity on what’s next for them in their lives – it could be vocational or may be more on a personal level. Very often it’s a combination of both.

People who are wanting to figure out their purpose and looking to find more happiness and fulfillment in their lives. Also to have a strong sense of self and a confidence to move forward.

Is there anything else we should know about you?

That I’m truly passionate about elephants. I just think they’re amazing! I sponsor a couple in Africa and I plan on visiting them someday soon!

Occupation: Consultant and Coach
Age: 43 🙂
Lifestyle: Stay centered, have fun, give love and go, go, go!!

Jennifer Tee in Purple (made from organic cotton and bamboo and also available in Black and Charcoal) designed by Fresh Collective’s very own Palette by Laura-Jean; Laura Skirt in Glasses Print (also available in other prints!) designed by Fresh Collective’s in-house label, Palette by Laura-Jean

What’s a typical day like for you?

My day starts early with some ‘me time’ for meditation, affirmations and yoga. This may or may not be interrupted by my two boys who can also be early risers, but it’s a great start to a busy day. I walk my kids to school and on the way home like to listen to an inspirational audio and transition into work mode.

My work day takes place while the boys are at school, so I need to be very focused to get my things done in this 5-6 hour window! This looks like a combination of teaching webinars to clients, one-on-one laser coaching calls, attending networking groups (like Happy Healthy Women!), keeping up with emails and my marketing.

After work / school it’s a combination of family time, sports and homework, and all the busyness that goes along with kids, dinner-times and bedtimes! Then it’s some downtime reading or talking with my husband, checking in with email…and that’s a wrap!

Flower Garden Dress in Blue (also available in other prints, colours and styles!) by LA label Eva Rose; Necklace by Toronto label Torched Studio

What in your life is really important to you?

Remembering to notice and appreciate the good things in your life – small and big – are really important to me. I was very sick in my early 20s and know what it’s like to learn to walk again and it changed my perspective forever on what it means to ‘stop and smell the flowers’.

insta banner

And finding harmony in life is important to me – not balance because I think there is never perfect balance – but rather harmony where the elements of our life work well together at that time. There are times in life (your days, your months, your years) when one area needs more attention than others and acknowledging and accepting this ebb and flow is one of the keys to staying happy.

Vogue Dress by Montreal label Cherry Bobin; Brass necklace by Torched Studio

What would you like to be remembered for?

Helping people become better at being their true selves, who they were meant to be, and doing what they love to do – for helping them see the beauty and awesomeness inside and letting it grow and shine! With everyone, from my clients, to my family and my children.

Flower Garden Dress in Ivory (also available in other prints, colours and styles!) by LA label Eva Rose; Handcrafted necklace by Toronto label burfurtART

What role does fashion play in your life?

Fashion is a great way to express yourself! I work from home most of the time so I am often in jeans and a shirt or sweater. I only wear yoga pants when I’m actually going to yoga 😉

banner 3- border

When I go out I like to dress the part based on the audience or event so I can go for a classic suit look with a blouse, dark jeans with a stylish top, or a nice dress. It’s important to me that I feel comfortable (physically) and confident (emotionally) in my fashion choices!

Flower Garden Dress in Ivory (also available in other prints, colours and styles!) by LA label Eva Rose; Handcrafted necklace by Toronto label burfurtART

What do you love about shopping at Fresh Collective?

I love that they feature Canadian designers! And that the focus is on selling confidence and self expression through fashion – it’s not just about a skirt or a top but finding the right one for who you are and how you feel. The clothes are beautiful and trendy (without being so trendy you know you’ll never wear it again) for all shapes and sizes.

Before becoming a business coach, you led quite an exciting life as a First Nations community planner! What inspired you to transition into coaching?

Yes, I spent about 14 years working with First Nations all across Canada on things like community vision, quality of life, climate change adaptation – so many incredible projects and people, and so much that I learned over these years. Not to mention the amazing places in Canada I was so fortunate to visit.

In virtually all of this work, I also considered myself a teacher or a coach – to the people on the project teams and to the community members we worked with. Unlike a city planning project, in the First Nations, there was almost never a planning department or planner to take on the project when we were ‘done’ and so mentoring and coaching was built right into the work we did together.

banner1-border
I transitioned into consulting and coaching entrepreneurs (as opposed to communities) because I wanted to work in a more direct way with people and help them to create quantum leaps in their life and their family’s lives right now. The layers of politics and bureaucracy, and of course, the historical traumas and healing process, are such that community change requires a long view of success.

I also made the transition to be able to spend more time with my family. So much of what I did in this chapter of my life I now do with entrepreneurs: identifying your vision, creating worthy goals, writing these in ways your subconscious will believe and support, celebrating your gifts and strengths, creating routines and habits that support success, listening, asking good questions… And now I get to help other women create the life of their dreams!

Flower Garden Dress in Blue (also available in other prints, colours and styles!) by LA label Eva Rose; Necklace by Toronto label Torched Studio

What do you have that you want to promote?

As part of my consulting practice I facilitate an amazing program called Thinking Into Results that is based on over 50 years of research into human growth, potential, and creating permanent change. I was trained (and am certified) by Bob Proctor, an incredible leader in this field who is regarded as one of the pioneer masters of the Law of Attraction.

The work that I do is about exercising and changing your mind at a deep level. We get to the root cause of success by changing paradigms – the mental programs that live in our subconscious minds that are a multitude of habits and beliefs.

Vogue Dress by Montreal label Cherry Bobin; Brass necklace by Torched Studio

Think of your mind like a computer that is controlling everything in your life. Some programs are working well but others are out-of-date, software needs an upgrade, and a virus code here and there.

Clients say that it works because it’s a way of life, not only a 6 month program. What they learn changes how they think, feel, and act in every areas of their lives. And whatever the focus of the work – the big goal – going in, as one area starts to shift and change and get better so do the others!

Flower Garden Dress in Ivory (also available in other prints, colours and styles!) by LA label Eva Rose; Handcrafted necklace by Toronto label burfurtART

As a consultant with the Proctor Gallagher Institute, you teach Thinking Into Results to help individuals and their businesses grow and thrive. What makes this methodology so successful?

Thinking Into Results shares lessons from the best of great teachers – Napolean Hill, Earl Nightengale, Maxwell Maltz, Wallace Wattle – and teaches them in a clear, organized and relatable way. How many people have read the book Think and Grow Rich but then not really figured out how to apply it to their life, for example?

Marla Keyhole Shirt in Red Chambray (also available in other colours and prints) by Toronto label Mandala; High Rise Skinny Alexa Jeans in Destroyed Medium Blue by Montreal label Lola Jeans

What I love about Thinking Into Results is how well each of our 12 lessons link and lead into each other – and how practical it is. When you finishing the ‘Knowing-Doing Gap’ lesson, for example, (why don’t we do what we know how to do??) we give you clear steps to take to identify non-productive habits and reframe these into productive ones.

It’s actionable!

And it has helped thousands of people all over the world, in all different situations and professions, create incredible changes in their lives. Thinking Into Results, with its combination of home-study and personal accountability and support, gives people the right information and tools to unleash their incredible potential, and create a thriving business and life full of love and joy!

Could you describe to us what a typical coaching session with you might look like?

When I first meet with someone I really just want to get to know them and listen to what they want – their goals, how they feeling things are going, and what is holding them back. I know I can help people get moving in the direction of their dreams and goals, and break past terror barriers if they are willing and able. I have been there and I know how it feels – and how amazing it is when you move forward!

Marla Keyhole Shirt in Red Chambray (also available in other colours and prints) by Toronto label Mandala; High Rise Skinny Alexa Jeans in Destroyed Medium Blue by Montreal label Lola Jeans

My approach to Thinking Into Results is a combination of self-study, group study and one-on- one sessions. Self-study every day keeps you in the right mindset, the right vibration and creates the repetition that you need to really change and make things happen!

Group webinars reinforce the lessons, and allow for group question and answer time – and build that mastermind effect when minds come together to share and create.

The one-on-one time gives my clients the chance to connect when they are feeling stuck or at key “ah-ha” moments. Wrap this all together and you have an incredibly transformational experience that will change your business and your life forever.

Vogue Dress by Montreal label Cherry Bobin; Brass necklace by Torched Studio

Is there anything else we should know about you?

I spent years humming and hawing about really going for my big goals, losing confidence and worrying I’d never make it happen. And then I made the decision to go for it, and I reached out to people for help, hired my own coaches, and put myself out there. And there is nothing special about me, or my clients – we can all do it!! Make your life’s journey the best it can possibly be.

I think as entrepreneurs we ‘get it’ that our own personal thoughts, beliefs and success, and the success of our business, are intertwined. Olympics athletes work with coaches to help them perform at their absolute best. Find someone who can support and coach you as you grow – you’ll be glad you did!

Tank top by Toronto designer Yasmine Louis; Raspberry Margaret Clutch & Crossbody Purse (also available in Tangerine) by Markham label Pixie Mood

What’s a typical day like for you?

My days can vary depending on my work schedule. However, my non-negotiables for each day include waking up by 6:15AM, guzzling a glass of lemon water in the AM (giving myself that inner bath), then comes coffee and a balanced breakfast.

I always include some sort of intense movement during the day. That can include working out or simply going for a brisk walk.

What in your life is really important to you?

My health. My family. My work. In that order. If I don’t have my health, I’m no good to anyone or anything else.

Maxi Dress by Toronto label Mandala; Handcrafted necklace by Toronto jewellery label burfurtART

What would you like to be remembered for?

Living a good life isn’t just about living a long life. It’s about living a long QUALITY life, where you feel GOOD in your body. As a Nutrition and Fitness Coach, I would like to be remembered as someone who helped others achieve their health-related goals and give them the best chance to live a long, healthy, quality life. All done with a smile of course. 🙂

What role does fashion play in your life?

It expresses my mood and my personality. Typically, I would describe my fashion style as “smart, sporty, comfy”. But sometimes, I like to get dolled up and dig up those heels! It’s fun to be a girl. 🙂

Don’t wait until new year’s to make that resolution to “get in shape”.

Working with a Nutrition and Fitness Coach and having a “wing woman” by your side as your guide and accountability partner often makes that difference between reaching your goal or not. There’s never going to be a better time than NOW to get healthier, feel better and look better.

I’m a Nutrition and Fitness Coach who helps busy professional women find the time and motivation to get in their best shape – and stick to it. My coaching is private and 1:1.

Regardless if you’re the corporate professional, the working-warrior-mom, the work-from-home entrepreneur – – or a combination of them all! Work with me to work on you! There’s still a lot of tank top and shorts weather ahead of us.

You’re a Trailblazer for Happy Healthy Women – what makes this community so unique?

Yes, I am a proud Trailblazer for the Happy Healthy Women Collective. I am the Nutrition and Fitness Coach for the Etobicoke Branch. This is a wonderful, supportive community of women from all walks of life, coming together to share, learn and collaborate with one another. Egos are chucked at the door.

How can those of us leading very busy (or very lazy) lifestyles find the motivation to make more room in our lives for fitness and better nutrition?

Ah, that’s my specialty! I would say that “too busy” and “can’t stay motivated” are in the top 5 reasons that people don’t keep up with their fitness or healthy eating.

insta banner

First I’ll say, it CAN be done. The key is working in the fitness and eating well into your existing lifestyle/schedule. I find many women try to do too much or do the wrong things within a short amount of time and get deflated when they don’t succeed.

Maxi Dress by Toronto label Mandala; Handcrafted necklace by Toronto jewellery label burfurtART

For example, trying to lose x weight by x date, or trying to workout at 5AM when you’re not a morning person, or going completely gluten-free/meat-free/dairy-free/wheat-free/FUN-free all at once!

I have found that having realistic goals and accountability are key for success.

So I like to use the analogy of climbing Mount Everest. You don’t get to the summit by simply reading about mountain climbing or training for a few weeks, then trying to make that hike and succeed on your own. It takes guidance, preparation, practice and commitment.

Dress by Toronto label Studio Fresh; Laser cut necklace by Squamish, BC label Birch Street Studio

Guides and Sherpas train you and take you up the mountain, strategically chosing the best route one step at a time to avoid pitfalls. There are also planned rest periods for your body to acclimatize, which is key to successfully reaching the summit.

banner 3- border

This is very much like getting into better shape or eating better. You may need some guidance and you don’t need to do everything all at once within a constricted time frame. The formula that works best is to take strategic tiny steps, practiced consistently over time.

banner1-border

These tiny steps build on one another and add up to big progress, eventually becoming “what you do effortlessly” to help you reach your goal and sustain it. Consistently accomplishing these small wins is extremely motivating and keeps your momentum moving forward!

Top by Toronto designer Yasmine Louis; Black tote by Markham label Pixie Mood

What do you enjoy most about the work you do?

I get to do the 3 things I love. Eat well. Move well. Help people. I get goose bumps and a lump in my throat when I see how a woman’s confidence has positively changed once she experiences how good she can feel in her own skin.

Is there anything else we should know about you?

Yes, I’m a firm believer that it’s never too late to ______ (you fill in the blank). A few years ago (in my early 40s), I took a big leap of faith and left the corporate world to pursue my true love of teaching women how to take better care of their health through food and fitness.

Trinidad Dress in Ivory and Grey (also available in Black and Grey) by Saint-Sévère, QC label Rien Ne Se Perd; Laser cut necklace by Squamish, BC label Birch Street Studio

It was one of the best (and scariest) decisions I ever made, but there are no regrets! As a continuous learner, I loved investing in myself through courses, training and coaching. So I encourage all women out there to keep the flame alive, invest in yourself and take your life by the horns! If you want change, action is required.

Even a small action is better than no action.

Could you walk us through a typical cooking class? What types of meals do you teach clients to prepare?
A typical cooking class is less than 2 hours of just having fun in the kitchen!

The host and I are partners as we work out a meal plan and gather like-minded guests!

I would set it all up for the host and their guests, we cook a meal together and then everyone can taste all that we made together and shop the wonders that Epicure has to offer!!

Is there anything in particular you think people ought to be more conscious of in their meal-planning and preparation?

Meal planning and controlling our portion sizes can be quite life-changing!

Take a few hours once a week to make a weekly meal plan, post it on the fridge for all to see, prep your veggies, protein, snacks and even cook a few meals (cook once eat twice)!

It helps with your time for the rest of week, it helps with stopping you from eating takeout and/or processed food, it can provide quality time for you and your family and it helps with portion control too!

We can help you with our recipes, programs and tips! Follow me for ideas!
