p(falling). I hope you all managed to have a nice weekend despite the unfortunate weather! Inspired by the great FC family interaction and the Real Women campaign launched last week, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on my first few months here and the reasons I truly HAVE Fallen For Fresh.
p(falling). Coming into this position I had only a little knowledge of what Fresh Collective was all about. I had passed by the stores a lot but never knew much about the philosophy of the business. When I read up about FC prior to my nerve-wracking interview I was so enthusiastic about the concept. Having a fashion-designer roommate and myself starting to dive into the world of jewelry design, I thought “what an incredible idea! – A business that supports up-and-coming local talent and gives them an environment to learn, and grow while building their business?” Too good to be true. I’m happy to report in hind-sight that it wasn’t.
p(falling). I totally blew it in my interview with Laura-Jean and Jane. I was so eager to get the job that I babbled nervously, put my foot in my mouth, and walked out sure I had no chance. Imagine my surprise when a couple days later I got an email asking me to come by for a second interview! I went to lunch with LJ and while I remained more composed on the outside this time, I still managed the graceful blunder of dropping my fork and some food on my lap. Laura-Jean has since told me (and many others haha) that this was when she really knew I was the perfect fit – and a few months in, I now know what she meant.
p(falling). We all love the clothes. We adore the fact that they’re designed locally, they’re made with heaps of love and there’s always something new to fall for! I am constantly drooling over the fashion and accessories that make FC so unique but what I have truly fallen for is the PEOPLE. From the founder herself, to the office team, the designers, the in-store personnel, the store managers and even YOU, the readers/followers/FC fans – I have never been surrounded by SO MUCH warm and positive energy! Coming to work is such a joy when the team you’re working with are so supportive, good-spirited and darn good at what they do! When Laura-Jean and I sit down to talk about the future I am genuinely excited about the progress we are making and the steps we are taking to build FC into an even more fantastic business. When I stop into the stores the in-store staff and designers are always so friendly, helpful and enthusiastic that you can’t help but be charmed. When I post a photo of myself in 2 dresses on Facebook to ask for your help and get a HUGE outpouring of advice and kind words I am overwhelmed.

p(falling). Fresh Collective is less a business and more a family, filled with quirks and laughter and love. I am so happy I got the opportunity to drop that food on myself and somehow find my way into the FC fam.
