Name: Yvonne Bambrick
Occupation: Urban Cycling Consultant, Photographer, Coordinator of the Forest Hill Village BIA
What’s a typical day like for you?
There’s nothing typical about my days. I’ve got such a wide variety of things that come up from week to week – from a photo shoot across town, to a meeting in a local cafe, emails (always and throughout the day), helping a relative get to a Dr.’s appointment, site-meetings, glass of wine in the market, an evening lecture… I’m regularly amazed at just how much can fit into a day, but I have no doubt that I would never be able to get as much done without my trusty bicycle. Predictable travel times and no traffic – works for me!
What in your life is really important to you?
Friends, family, my bicycle and my camera – in whatever order best suits my daily schedule
What would you like to be remembered for?
I’d love to be remembered for the contributions I’ll continue to make to the livability and enjoyment of my hometown Toronto, and for being a fiercely loyal and reliable friend.
What role does fashion play in your life?
Fashion trends aren’t something I follow, but I like to look well put together while also being practically dressed for riding a bike everywhere. I have my own style that evolves with the pieces that come my way via clothing swaps, or that I find of occasional shopping excursions with my style icon, and dearest buddy, Melanie.
What do you love about shopping at Fresh Collective?
I try to buy locally made everything and can always count on Fresh Collective to have beautiful, flattering clothes that won’t go out of style, whatever that means 😉
What do you have that you want to promote?
I just wrote a book about how to ride a bicycle in the city and I’d love to get it into as many hands as possible! Although this book is aimed at new and would-be riders, there’s plenty of useful information in it for people who are already comfortable on the roads. The Urban Cycling Survival Guide comes out in March 2015, but you can pre-order it online (see link below!). Better yet, why not ask your local bookstore if they plan to carry it! A great gift for any bike-lovers on your holiday gift list 😉

Is there anything else we should know about you?
I’m a long time volunteer in Kensington Market and am one of the co-creators of Pedestrian Sundays which just wrapped the 11th season of car-free community events!
If you’re looking for someone to photograph your upcoming holiday party, conference or headshot, I’m your gal. Some of my work can be found here.
