What’s a typical day like for you?

Get up, check my e-mails, get the kids and myself ready for the day, check e-mails, go to meetings, follow up prospects and clients, check emails again. 🙂 Go home, make supper, spend a bit of time with the kids, watch one of my favorite shows, read or go to a community event/lecture… check my emails one more time (I need to disconnect from email a bit, LOL), then to sleep!

What in your life is really important to you?

My kids!

What would you like to be remembered for?

Helping others and making a difference in peoples’ lives.

What do you have that you want to promote?

I recently launched a group benefit plan for Women Growing Empire (WGE) Queen Members. I am super proud of that, but what I feel these days is a greater need to help women business owners grow and protect their finances.

So many women are working hard in their businesses, but have not taken the time yet to plan for their future – whether that’s to keep working, to travel, retire, or whatever else!

Too many women are not taking advantage of the benefits and tax advantages Life Insurance offers – aside from your home, it is the only other tax-free asset the CRA allows us. I want to help more women get the most out of their money, succeed in their goals, minimize the taxes they pay, and be able to live the life they want!

There is a lot of (mis)information out there, and when I speak with women I find they don’t know what’s available to them. So many aren’t aware that it’s now easier than ever to protect your family and your finances, and to set yourself up for SUCCESS!

Why do you focus on providing group benefits and life insurance for women business owners?

Years ago I saw the trend of top professionals leaving corporate to start their own businesses, and in the last few years, more women are doing this than ever before.

Leaving corporate – or even starting your own business as a stay-at-home mom – means you don’t have the resources that Big Corporate Canada has. That is why insurance is so important to small businesses. It provides much-needed financial and medical resources during some of the most difficult times people face.

I have met some wonderfully passionate, creative, brilliant women, and love to support them and their dreams by offering guidance in this small way. 🙂

How will you work with my business to ensure affordable group benefits?

There are a few strategies for managing group benefit costs for small businesses, and it depends on the size of your team, as well as their needs. So let’s talk! My mission is to have you walk away with new ideas and information you didn’t have before.

What I often see is that even when clients don’t implement any of the ideas we go over, they keep them in mind, and it helps them with planning for their business for the future. I have had women come back to me after 1 or 2 years – sometimes, the timing needs to be right.

What does a client-advisor relationship entail?

The most important thing is ongoing communication; life changes….circumstances change; it is so important to stay in touch, have conversations a few times a year about what is going on in a clients life and in the insurance industry so that we can ensure that the plans we set up continue to serve the client the way they need.

What are some common misconceptions business owners have about group benefits and key person life insurance?

Too many people I speak with think it is very expensive, not affordable and don’t understand how it can help them. What I tell them is 2 things-

There are affordable options today, and particularly as a business owner its very important to protect your health, your money and your cashflow. It can mean the difference between staying in business, and having to close your doors!

Understanding what the risks are and how to properly cover those risks is very important. Setting up the right plan is critical. I had clients who were paying for things they never used, they were wasting their money. I showed them how to re-structure their plan, so the money they were paying for their insurance covered them properly; we made the most of each dollar spent!
