Name: Katrina Herrndorf
Occupation: Owner/Designer – Red Fred Design
Lifestyle: Married to Neil with one son, Fred, and a Bernese Mountain Dog, Jack
What’s a typical day like for you?
Have breakfast with my son and then he leaves for school; walk Jack through High Park; do errands on Roncesvalles; go home and start my work day, which involves doing graphics, architectural drawings, and sourcing furniture and finishes. Three days a week I go to Sama for yoga in the morning as well.
What in your life is really important to you?
My family, my friends, my neighbourhood, art & design, and book club (which has very little to do with books ).
My sense of humour, my creativity, and my organizational skills.

What role does fashion play in your life?
Even though I work from home, I like to dress up every day.
What do you love about shopping at Fresh Collective?
I love that it is in my hood and that it supports Canadian designers who produce creative, funky and quality garments and accessories. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The inventory is always changing so it is always a treat to pop in and see what’s new.
What do you have that you want to promote?
My business, Red Fred Design, is unique in that I design graphics as well as interiors. I have had the opportunity to do both for some of my clients. It is great to create a strong beautiful brand and take it through the graphic platform all the way to the architectural space.
I have a Bachelor of Architecture and have taken several design courses. I am resourceful, organized and creative – a real “Jill of all design trades”.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. In my early twenties I had a cake and dessert company as well as I made and sold hats. Before Red Fred Design I had a company called Bowhaus where I manufactured funky dog crates.

After that I went back to school for various design courses. I started Red Fred Design when my son was little doing interiors, graphics and upholstery.
I love my balance of life – being a mother & wife, walking the dog through High Park and the neighbourhood everyday, friends, yoga and all my varied design work.
Is there anything else we should know about you?
I love to dance and I am a Netflix junkie!
