What’s a typical day like for you? There is no typical day! One day I could be tattooing works of art on skin, another I could be working on a commissioned oil painting on canvas, the next doing make-up and hair styling for a Scottish-Jewish-Gay wedding! Or, perhaps a day off at The Beach? Who knows!

What in your life is really important to you? I know it’s cliche’d, but my friends and family. They support me and encourage me. They keep me going and make it all worth it. Also my two fantastic cats, Ralph & Paul.Freedom. Pizza. Cooking in general actually, but definitely pizza. Even better, freedom pizza.

…and of course, the ability to create art!

What would you like to be remembered for? Ever since I was a child, I wanted to be a famous artist like Picasso or Dali (both favourites and super inspirational to me) where they were able to be recognized for their talents *within* their lifetime and thereafter. I wanted to be just like them, building a career out of their passion. It would be pretty amazing to be remembered for my art once I’m gone.

What role does fashion play in your life? Fashion has always been a part of who I am. Throughout the years I have enjoyed being a sort of chameleon with all the different styles, expressing my moods through clothing/hair/makeup from day to day.

What do you love about shopping at Fresh Collective? I love the unique array of styles, colours, the friendly service and don’t forget they support independent local designers!

What do you have that you want to promote?
Inspired by scenes from the cult classic film, The Shining, I have created 7 multimedia works of art. All pieces are done on an old Ikea desk or dresser panel – reused and repurposed using oil & acrylic paints, Col-erase pencils, graphite, pyrography (wood burning), carving/sanding (rotary/Dremel), collage, and more!

It was a four month project with countless hours of work involved.

6 out of 7 pieces are still on display at Cardinal Rule restaurant at 5 Roncesvalles Ave until the end of June.

“Ebony Goddess” – Oil paints and varnish on an old 5 foot Ikea desk top.

“Jack” Pyrography, collage, Col-Erase pencil, oil paint, stucco gel and varnish on an old Ikea desk panel.

“Dick Holloran – The Cook” – Pyrography stipple, Col-Erase pencil, graphite, acrylic paints and varnish on an old Ikea desk panel. (CLOSE UP)

“Danny Torrance” – Pyrography, oil paints, carving/sanding(Dremel/rotary tool), acrylic paints, marker and varnish on an old Ikea desk panel.

Prints as well as the original pieces are available for purchase in my Etsy shop:
