What’s a typical day like for you?

My days are packed and go at lightening speed. My son usually wakes me up and it’s coffee, get dressed, get him dressed and out the door.

I teach close to home which is great because it means more time with my son and I have a great connection to the students and my community. I teach Photography and Media Arts so each day is different and filled with problem solving and creativity.

After school I may go to the gym for a workout. I have dinners with my mom (who lives with us) and my son. Then it’s a little down time, story time and some shut eye.

What in your life is really important to you?

Obviously my son is the most important but I think that being able to be inspired by life and what is going on around me is important too.

Finding new ways to express this inspiration whether it’s through photography, art, teaching, cooking, whatever is essential.

What would you like to be remembered for?

I would like to be remembered for my positive contribution in the lives of my students.

What role does fashion play in your life?

For me fashion is about expressing who I am while being super comfortable at the same time.

I’ve experimented with different looks in my life but now that I’m in my 40s I know what makes me look good and goes with my professional yet bohemian vibe.

Describe your ideal outfit for fall!

Boots, Leggings, flowy blouse, and a cardigan. Oh and a killer boho bag.

What do you love about shopping at Fresh Collective?

I like that Fresh Collective carries a lot of Canadian Designers and environmentally friendly labels. The styles are always cutting edge and unique. They also have a wide range of sizes which cater to both the young set and the post baby older generation.

How long have you been working in the field of education and what is the most rewarding aspect of this career for you?

I have been a teacher for 10 years. The most rewarding part of my job is having a former student come to visit and share with me their successes in life.

Often the students who come to visit me as adults were once at-risk students who struggled both at home and at school. It makes my heart happy to see them doing well and thriving.

How are you personally involved in helping students meet their goals and achieve success?

I enjoy teaching students Art and Photography because there is not the same kind of pressure as teaching the more academic subjects.

I like to facilitate a learning experience for students where they can explore more about themselves and learn skills that not only will help them in their future careers but also build confidence and inner strength.
