Everyone’s got keeping warm on their mind these days!  Here we’re featuring a few of our favourite styles of sweaters by Canadian designers.  Check out the full online selection here and come into our stores for even more selection and great prices while supplies last!

2 way cardi

From Toronto designer Brenda Beddome, this Two Way Cardigan is such a hit that Brenda does a version every season.  This year it comes in a heathered super soft knit that’s lightweight and cozy.  It can be worn closed with the zip at the shoulder or open and drapey.  Not all sizes in all colours are left, so act fast if you want to add one of these to your closet!

gentle fawn 1

Gentle Fawn was a new line for us this season and a Kensington location exclusive. Based out of Vancouver this line was founded ten years ago by Daniel and Carla Hogg.  Here are two styles on sale now – The Heritage Sweater (left) and the Marble Sweater (right). Shop more Gentle Fawn styles here.

Sophie sweater

Mandala Design is known for modern fashion with a vintage vibe and this Sophie sweater is a perfect example of that.  This style reminds me of something Audrey Hepburn would have worn with capri pants, but it looks totally “today” at the same time!  Shop Sophie here online (and on sale!).

Flor

The Flor Cardigan by Mandala Design is a versatile and soft layering piece that will go with most everything in your wardrobe.  Shop Flor online here (on sale too!) and all Mandala Design here.

Thanks for tuning in for this special selection of sweaters by Canadian designers!  I hope you find something to keep you cozy in style through till March!

What’s a typical day like for you?

Weekday: Get up. Tea immediately. Yoga. Bike to New School HQ on Queen West. See clients throughout the day and nerd out hard about money awesomeness. Then, usually, in the evenings I’m off to do a talk/event/photoshoot/biz shiz etc. Home.

What in your life is really important to you? Besides fam/friends (this trumps all the things), meaningful work and a sense of purpose. I have so much passion and need to channel it into meaningful work. I don’t know who I would be if I couldn’t do something I’m passionate about. The thought scares me!

What would you like to be remembered for? Changing the Canadian Financial Planning Industry so every day people can feel excited and empowered about their finances!! Also – red hair.

What role does fashion play in your life? I do talks, videos, presentations, and I see clients on a daily basis. Fashion is important to me because it is a way that I can express myself, my brand, and who I really am in my personal life and my biz.

What do you love about shopping at Fresh Collective? I love that the clothes are clothes I’d wear for work and that I’d also wear out in my personal life. For me that’s key. Something that fits well and fits well in my life is key!

What do you have that you want to promote? I’m launching Canada’s first Personal Finance School Oct 13th, 2015. Online DIY financial courses that are accessible, affordable and AWESOME. I’m so unbelievably excited about it. I think it will change the way Canadians view their finances and empower everyone (not just millionaires) to make GOOD financial decisions. Learning about money and your own finances doesn’t have to suck… Trust.

Dress: Annie 50; Necklace: Love, Montreal.

This dress is available online in red, green and black!

What’s a typical day like for you? My days are all over the place. Mostly
I am working, which can mean getting up early to buy flowers at the
wholesale market, or manning my flower shop helping customers and making
flower designs.  Some days I am out delivering and setting up flowers for
events such as weddings. Days off are rare right now but I try to fill
them with bike rides and hanging with my family rather than wasting them
on housework!

What in your life is really important to you? Being happy.  I truly think
happiness is a choice we each get to make from moment to moment. We only
get to live once, so I want to make this life a happy one.

What would you like to be remembered for? My patience and acceptance of
others. And also for being a pretty darn good florist.

What role does fashion play in your life? I am obsessed with colour and
pattern, nothing makes me happier than dressing in bright colours and
prints.  I think life is too short not to wear pretty clothes.  For my
work I am often getting dirty and do a lot of lifting and moving, so my
clothes need to be durable and able to take a beating while still looking
good enough to meet with a client at a moments notice, which is a lot to
ask.

What do you love about shopping at Fresh Collective? It’s like Fresh Collective has hooked itself to my brain! I love the eclectic mix of styles, but even more I love that the staff are such a cool creative bunch themselves that they can take in who I am and choose clothes that will show that to the world- it is a true gift.  I’m also trying to be conscious of where I spend my money.  As a small business owner myself, I think it is important to support other small local businesses and makers so that we can all prosper and succeed.

What do you have that you want to promote? I own a flower shop called
Periwinkle Flowers in midtown Toronto.  It’s filled with colour and happy
things, and I get to share my love of flowers with people across the city.
The shop makes and delivers happy colourful flower arrangements across
Toronto, and also carries pretty little things such as soaps and tea
towels made by local designers.  I have a special offer for Fresh Collective fans!  See the details below:

Is there anything else we should know about you? I’ve owned my shop for 14
years, and have come to realize I truly love being a florist!  Hearing
little slices of a customer’s story as I help them pick out flowers for a
friend or loved one is just hands down the best part of my work.
