What’s a typical day like for you?

I work a typical 9-to-5 job but I can be found doing one of the many diverse things that interest me after hours. Weekly I volunteer as an English tutor for refugees and on other days I’m covering a media event for Torontonicity or I’m doing fun activities such as snowshoeing with friends or checking out museums with my boyfriend. On the weekend, you’ll often find me trying out a new recipe as part of my 1000 new recipe challenge and then sharing the (mostly) delicious results with my family, who are always willing to be my guinea pigs. My weekends are pretty booked with theatre, movies, concerts, hiking, dining and checking out festivals and new things to do in Toronto.

This Ori dress by Toronto fashion label Studio Fresh is available in 2 options: floral with striped sleeves as above and solid black with teal sleeves.

What in your life is really important to you?

My family is most important and so is the freedom to do what I want to do. We have so many opportunities available to us in Toronto and it is impossible to advantage of them all, but I try.

What would you like to be remembered for?

I hope people remember me as a kind, caring person who sweetens their day. I would also like to be remembered for having a cat hotel – I don’t have one but it would be awesome if I did!

What role does fashion play in your life?

I love playing with fashion, it is self-expression that I carry with me everywhere. It is an artistic outlet for me. Deciding how to combine clothes in the morning is a creative way to start the day. Sometimes, I come up with a new combination and that’s exciting – it is like a new outfit suddenly appeared in my closet. Even if I’m feeling blah, I feel better when I put on some stylish and colourful clothes.

What do you love about shopping at Fresh Collective?

Fresh Collective always has a few pieces that will add flavor to my wardrobe, whether I’m looking for something totally fresh or if I need something to work with what I have. The clothes are comfortable which is so important to my active lifestyle.

What do you have that you want to promote?

I’m a blogger for Torontonicity.com which is a natural thing for me to do because I’m always zooming around the city checking out art galleries, theatre, Paint Nite, Murder Mystery Scavenger Hunts and trying out new kind of exercise classes such as Kangoo – which is similar to jumping around the room like a kangaroo in specially-made bouncy shoes.

Is there anything else we should know about you?

I have a passion for indie and local. I love local, independent theatre such as Fringe and SummerWorks, I savour indie coffee shops and I relish shopping for clothes and jewelry created by local designers from fab shops such as Fresh Collective.

What do you love about shopping at Fresh Collective? What is there not to love?! The designers are not only super talented, but the the ones I’ve met over the years are truly lovely people. What’s a typical day like for you?

Think, think, and think some more.

Look for magic in the simplest places, and capture it.

What in your life is really important to you? Love.

What would you like to be remembered for?

Opening people to the magic that’s right in front of them.

I’ve triggered some inspiration.

Top, Studio Fresh, Skirt, Mandala Design.

What role does fashion play in your life?  Fashion shouldn’t have to make you guess what sort of person I am. A good wardrobe eliminates the intention (or pretention) of dressing.  There is no guess work because the choice is always clear.  Breadth is not always the answer; precision is.

Name: Jennifer Bouley
Occupation: Career Coach/Small Business Owner/ Bouley-Mak Consulting and Coaching
Age:30

jennifer1

Dress: Floral Amy Dress – Michelle Carey, $198; Necklace: Curious Oddities, $60

What’s a typical day like for you? My typical day is quite interesting and a lot of fun. I tend to get up early and work with clients I have in China. Then I move on to working with clients in Toronto, UK, Brazil, and USA. Lots of writing, networking, conferences, resumes, recruiting, career guidance for clients, managing a business, and working with my employees. I have designed my life to what I have always wanted. I work different hours depending on clients and their needs. I like it this way I can meet the needs of those I work for and myself at the same time. I always try and get some workout in the day and spend time with family and pets.

What in your life is really important to you? Well, I am married so this is most important; keeping a healthy home relationship is the base for any healthy life. Also taking care of myself I travel a lot and make sure to keep myself centred and health to help others. Seeing people who I work with succeed. People come to me for help with their careers so I want to help them in any way I can.  My main clients are aged 18 to 40 and are looking to get ahead in their career. Growing my business is also important.

jennifer3

Dress: Farm dress – Studio Fresh, $179; Bracelet: Colleen Poitras, $60

What would you like to be remembered for? Giving people the tools to live a good life and career. I have been in jobs that wore me down, I want the world to love their job.

What role does fashion play in your life? Big role, your clothes are your outward expression to the world.

What do you love about shopping at Fresh Collective? The clothes fit me correctly, they have a variety or styles, with good fabric, nice designs, prints, and quality.

jennifer2

Dress: Mona – Mandala Design, $148; Necklace: Curious Oddities, $26

What do you have that you want to promote? I help you move your career forward! “Moving Your Career Forward!” is our slogan. I want to tell people that Career Coaches are out there to help young professionals. We are an new industry that has a high demand who have been through the trenches of our careers and came out preserving. People have SO MUCH talent that can get them the job they want that they don’t even think counts. While they say the resume is dying, at this point it is still the most important part of your job search. Knowing how to properly write a resume and commit to your personal vision of life can get you miles ahead. In North America we live in a place where the opportunities are limitless, so working with a career coach have really help you get yourself on the right path to achieving your goals.

Is there anything else we should know about you? I was a Social Worker before going in to Human Resources and have been working with the Anti-Human Trafficking movement since 2008. I am going to Thailand in January 2016 with an organization called Children’s Organization of South East Asia to set up an employment program. People used to tell me there is no way you will bring Social Work, Human Resources, and your work with Anti-Human Trafficking together. But I did. My whole point is NOTHING is impossible if you really want something you will always find a way to do it. You just need to collaborate with others and yourself!

Occupation: Event Manager
Age: 28
Lifestyle: Flexible

whitney3

Dress: Boho dress floral -Studio Fresh, $179; Shoes: Stella – El Naturalista; Necklace: Curious Oddites; Bracelet: BurfurtART

What’s a typical day like for you? It completely depends on the projects that I’m managing. It will usually start with a 7 am wake up, a bowl of protein enriched cereal and a mad dash to finish hair and make-up so that I can get back to my beloved laptop. From there I check my calendar and head off to any site visits or client meetings I might have that day. You can usually find me glued to my laptop between meetings at The Spoke Club on King West to get in some research or tend to emails.

What in your life is really important to you? It’s probably frowned upon if I say my laptop so I won’t….without a doubt my husband is really important to me. He inspires me to be more creative and to master my craft like he has mastered his (he’s a professional Barber in Yorkville at Axe & Hatchet).

whitney1

Top: Blouson top – Brenda Beddome, $79 ; Skirt: Dandelion Skirt – Desserts and Skirts, $105, Ring: Curious Oddities; Shoes: Stella – El Naturalista

What would you like to be remembered for? Client Service. A past CEO of mine once gave me the best advice. He said you are nothing if people don’t think you really listened to them. Clients might walk away from a project and say Whitney was prepared, Whitney never wasted my time, Whitney was truly creative but when they say Whitney really listened I know I have achieved their vision and met their needs.

What role does fashion play in your life? It plays a huge role. Fashion is a way to express your identity and in the world of events we are constantly dressing to the occasion. Working an event is very different from attending one and I have outfits that cover everything in between.

What do you love about shopping at Fresh Collective? The clothes are functional. For my industry we have to be able to load in every kind of decor but still look presentable when clients pop in to check on things. Fresh Collective gives so many options for comfortable fashion.

whitney2

Top: Spirit top- Advika $95; Bracelet: BurfurtART; Shoes: Stella – El Naturalista

Is there anything else we should know about you? Random fact. I designed and produced carnival costumes for 10 years for the annual Scotiabank Toronto Carnival. I now use those design skills to produce creative events.

Where can people find you on social media? Already above…

Style Profile: Emilia Farrace

Name:  Emilia Farrace
Occupation:  Entrepreneur! (Owner of Simply Elaborate Creative, A Girl Boss life + Mealspirations)
Age: 30

Lifestyle:  I have a laidback lifestyle with a penchant for beautiful things and for things that make me feel like life is beautiful.  It’s laidback in “look” but full in action.

 emilia2

What’s a typical day like for you?  Meeting new people, current clients, my business partner, people, entrepreneurs, or designing websites, putting the finishing touches to websites, communicating with my team, members of my friends and family – writing!  I’m on the go almost always, on subways, streetcars, going from one end of the city to the other. But at the end of the day, cozy in the Annex with my cat, partner and knitting. Yes, I knit.

What in your life is really important to you?  My voice, my ability to take a stand and inspire others. I think often we need to help each other, find confidence in each other when sometimes it’s wavering in ourselves. Isn’t it nice if we could all find a little time to share inspiring things with one another?

emlia3

Blouse: Nelle by Monikova – $135.00; Skirt: Jupe Denim by Cameleon – $98.00; Famke by Bloomin’ Brilliant – $58.00; Truss by Bloomin’ Brilliant – $46.00

What would you like to be remembered for? I’d like to be remembered for my compassion and determination to fulfill promises. I want to be inspiring and help others achieve their dreams – help to develop the strategy and ideas to get there.

What role does fashion play in your life?  I wear clothes every day! So they’re pretty important 🙂  My mood for the day really depends on what I’m wearing to the office. I’m in a co-sharing work environment so I don’t really have the same constrictions that others in an office may have. But when I want a really, professional, productive day – you’ll be surprised on how getting ready in the morning really develops the mood for the rest of the day.

Emilia 1

Studio Fresh Top : Simple Palm – $79.00; Jeans: High Rise Ankle – Yoga Jeans, $120; Shoes: Praia by Oliberté! – $119.00

What do you love about shopping at Fresh Collective?  I love how the clothes fit me. I love how they’re fun, yet professional and when I try something on – I am actually amazed when I’m staring at myself in the mirror. I also love everyone who works there. Doesn’t matter which location, people are always so eager to help in a non-pushy way which really makes the experience. I feel like I’m shopping in a friend’s closet.

What do you have that you want to promote?

We have a new offering at Simply Elaborate:  Brand Development Strategy + Website Review. To celebrate the FRESH (get it?!) offering, I’m extending a free 60 minute consultation to five people who know that their presence online is just as important as the one they make in a physical meeting.

Email emilia@simplyelaborate.com with the subject line: FRESH REVIEW and let me know why you’re interested!

Mealspirations:  We’re an easy-cooking-at-home service that deliver nutritious recipes with all the ORGANIC and LOCAL ingredients you need to cook from scratch.  Get $20 off your first order with the code SPRING20.

Is there anything else we should know about you? I am a person who loves meeting new people who are inspiring and determined to go after what they want in their lives. I connect with people and see their dream and help them go after it! Currently, I am creating an online network of mentors and mentees for women on the brink of their professional careers looking for more guidance, advice and inspiration as they take the next step.
