What’s a typical day like for you? Every day starts with a big mug of coffee, of course. Monday / Tuesday I blend up & mail out fresh roasted coffee to customers across Canada. Other than that, there is no such thing as typical. Pretty much every day includes some work on building Sparkplug Coffee. The rest of my time is spent on adventures with my sweetie (Joe), volunteer work, hanging out with friends, riding my vintage Vespa.
(Above) Kara shares what she’s passionate about: Coffee and her business Sparkplug Coffee!
What in your life is really important to you? Family, friends, Joe & good coffee.
What would you like to be remembered for? My great taste in friends.
What role does fashion play in your life? Fashion is helpful for letting people know who I am – fun, playful, confident and not super conventional. Wearing funky, interesting clothes and accessories makes me happy and also creates an easy talking point for establishing connections with new people.
What do you love about shopping at Fresh Collective? Fresh isn’t important just for coffee! I love the fresh styles and unique designs. All the Fresh Collective staff are helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. And I love that the designs are created and made locally.
What do you have that you want to promote? I’m on a mission to make your favourite cup of coffee come from your own kitchen. Try out Sparkplug Coffee – order online at www.Sparkplug.Coffee (yes, a .Coffee domain!) with a choice of 6 delicious coffee blends, whole bean or ground for your coffeemaker. Order 1 bag to try it out or put it on Autopilot to have coffee sent every 2, 3 or 4 weeks – never run out again!
Is there anything else we should know about you? I live in one of Toronto’s oldest, newest & best neighbourhoods – Corktown – and am on the board of our local community association, the Corktown Residents & Business Association (www.Corktown.ca). Whatever your neighbourhood, I highly recommend getting involved in your community association. It’s a good way to meet your neighbours and be informed about the changes going on where you live.
